Discrepancies we have noted

  • How long you may drive on an overseas car licence. NZTA’s July 2026 factsheet says 18 months from your last date of entry, reducing to 12 months from 1 November 2026. An AA page says 18 months, and another AA page says 12 months from first arrival. We follow the NZTA factsheet.
  • Penalty for false information. News reports quoted an infringement fine of up to $750. The Land Transport Act reprint we read and NZTA’s factsheet give a fine of up to $10,000 on conviction under section 44. Both are shown on the relevant pages.
  • Learner and restricted fees. Not read on NZTA’s own page because its site blocked us; they are reported and reconcile with the $362.50 total in 1News.
