Anything popular attracts imitators.<\/li>\n<li>Garda\u00ed quoted the RSA in April 2020: the only way to contact NDLS is through the official RSA social media pages, or online through rsa.ie or ndls.ie.<\/li>\n<li>Applying online on the real service needs a Public Services Card and a verified MyGovID account.<\/li>\n<li>First licence or renewal costs &euro;65; replacement &euro;35 (checked 5 October 2026).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"s1\">What happened in 2020<\/h2>\n<p>In April 2020 garda\u00ed, working with the RSA, warned of a Facebook page that presented itself as NDLS. It invited people to contact it on WhatsApp to apply for or renew a driving licence, then asked for over &euro;200. The page was reported to Facebook for removal and garda\u00ed said an investigation was under way. Anyone who thought they were a victim was asked to contact their local Garda station.<\/p>\n<p>The search results for &#8220;buy irish driving licence&#8221; on 5 October 2026 still included Facebook pages with NDLS in their names beside the genuine NDLS pages. We cannot say whether any of them is active or who runs it, and we do not link to them. If the same service is there, use that one.<\/li>\n<li>Do not send documents or pay to find out whether it is real.<\/li>\n<li>If the page asked for money or documents, treat it as a scam and read <a href=\"\/ie\/paid-driving-licence-scammer-ireland\/\">what to do if you paid<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Report it to the platform and to your local Garda station.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The same warning applies to the theory test: the RSA says unofficial sites that appear to accept bookings are fraudulent, and to the passport service, which has its own alert on <a href=\"\/ie\/passport-application-websites-ireland\/\">passport application sites<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"s5\">Platform reporting<\/h2>\n<p>The CCPC points out that if a scam reached you through an online ad or marketplace you can report it directly to the platform, and that the EU Digital Services Act gives you rights where an online platform or advertisement is involved. It also advises contacting your bank or card provider as soon as possible and asking about a chargeback.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"s6\">Free services NDLS does not charge for<\/h2>\n<p>A quick test: some NDLS services have no fee, so a page that charges for them is not NDLS. Updating personal details on a licence or learner permit costs nothing. A driver statement is free. A first or renewal application is free if you are 70 or over. A one-year medical licence is &euro;0. Replacement fees apply to everyone, including people over 70, at &euro;35.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"s7\">What happens at a real centre<\/h2>\n<p>NDLS has 34 centres. You book an appointment, then bring the items listed for your application: your Public Services Number, photo ID, address proof if needed, any medical form, and the fee. You can pay by card, Google Pay, Apple Pay or a Payzone voucher. Nobody at a centre will ask for cash, a cheque or a postal order, because NDLS does not accept them.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"faq\">Frequently asked questions<\/h2>\n<details>\n<summary>Does NDLS have a Facebook page?<\/summary>\n<p>No. Garda\u00ed and the RSA said in 2020 that NDLS has no official social media pages.
